 ŇSwine FluÓ new guidance

In the light of recent increases in Swine Flu cases, the Bishops have renewed their recommendation that members of the congregation should recieve only the consecrated bread at the Eucharist and not share the Chalice. This not just for individuals own protection but also to avoid passing infection to others. Your PCC considered this at their last meeting and decided that though we would still make the chalice available to those who wished to drink from it all should be made aware of this advice and consider it very seriously.

The Church of EnglandŐs position remains that the Sacrament of ChristŐs presence is received fully in either the consecrated bread or wine. Though the norm in the Church of England is to receive Communion in both kinds (bread & wine) it is also perfectly permissible to receive only the bread.
